Alpuente is a large municipality (around 13,000 hectares) spread across many small settlements: besides the main town, it is made up of ten hamlets inhabited year-round —La Almeza, Baldovar, Campo de Abajo, Campo de Arriba, La Canaleja, El Collado, Corcolilla, La Cuevarruz, Las Eras, El Hontanar and La Torre—, plus a few more used only as second homes or now uninhabited. Casa Pepita is in La Almeza, one of these hamlets.

In honour of the Virgin of Consolation and Saint Blaise: a pilgrimage carries the image of Saint Blaise up to Corcolilla and brings the Virgin down to Alpuente, where she remains until August. Street parades, open-air dances and a "Moors and Christians" procession accompany the celebration.
The local feast of the Almeza hamlet, where Casa Pepita is located — the best time of year to experience the village atmosphere right on the doorstep.
Each one celebrates its own summer patronal feast; these are the closest to Casa Pepita:
Second week of May, with Saint Barnabas (11 June) as an additional feast day in the hamlet.
15 and 16 August.
Second weekend of August.
Second-to-last weekend of July.
Last Sunday of July.
One week after Corpus Christi.
8 May (Apparition of Saint Michael), August (Saint Michael and Saint Roch, second or third week) and 29 September (Saint Michael).
The surroundings are ideal for setting out early, walking slowly and discovering viewpoints, pine woods and landscapes that change with the light.
A good afternoon can combine a stroll through the town, a coffee or a drink, and a relaxed meal in a welcoming place.
Clear nights in the area are perfect for leaving the rush behind and enjoying one of the region's greatest pleasures: a dark sky full of stars. Nearby is the Javalambre Astrophysical Observatory, one of the least light-polluted skies in Spain and a benchmark site for astronomy.
Sometimes the best plan is simply to wander the streets, discover small shops and let the rhythm of the place surprise you.
If the heat is strong, one of the most pleasant day trips is to head to the Playeta de Chelva or the Azud de Tuéjar for a few hours of swimming, relaxation and summer scenery.
