Alpuente, a municipality of hamlets

Alpuente is a large municipality (around 13,000 hectares) spread across many small settlements: besides the main town, it is made up of ten hamlets inhabited year-round —La Almeza, Baldovar, Campo de Abajo, Campo de Arriba, La Canaleja, El Collado, Corcolilla, La Cuevarruz, Las Eras, El Hontanar and La Torre—, plus a few more used only as second homes or now uninhabited. Casa Pepita is in La Almeza, one of these hamlets.

Events and festivities that often shape the season

17 January · Saint Anthony Abbot

A very local and traditional date, with the blessing of animals and a warm village atmosphere that reflects rural life in the valley.

3 February · Saint Blaise

The feast day of Alpuente's patron saint, with religious events and a festive atmosphere across the municipality.

13 December · Saint Lucy

One of Alpuente's local feast days, with religious and popular events that mark the winter calendar.

Second week after Easter · Fiesta de los Quintos

A tradition rooted in the farewell of young men leaving for military service, still celebrated by the town every year.

May and August (every 3 years) · Patronal celebrations

In honour of the Virgin of Consolation and Saint Blaise: a pilgrimage carries the image of Saint Blaise up to Corcolilla and brings the Virgin down to Alpuente, where she remains until August. Street parades, open-air dances and a "Moors and Christians" procession accompany the celebration.

Last weekend of August · Virgin of the Cabeza (Almeza)

The local feast of the Almeza hamlet, where Casa Pepita is located — the best time of year to experience the village atmosphere right on the doorstep.
